Toxins can enter your well water from many sources, including industrial contamination, improperly disposed waste, septic tank leachate, and fertilizers or other farming chemicals. In a recent study, VOCs were found in 90 of 98 tested aquifers that supply well water to homeowners across the country.* Some toxins, such as arsenic and fluoride, are naturally occurring and can be present in high amounts in well water.
