Tankless Water Heaters
Tankless water heaters are prone to build scale inside their heat exchanger tubes. The rapid temperature increase in the units cause the minerals in untreated water to quickly form scale. The EasyWater 2200 and 3500 systems prevent scale build-up and are needed for use with tankless water heaters.

Rinnai America Corporation Test Results for FREIJE Descaling Technology
Rinnai Corporation, the largest manufacturer in the world of gas appliances and tankless water heaters, set out through Rinnai America Corporation to find a solution to hard water scale deposits in their tankless water heaters.
Rinnai conducted field tests with FREIJE Descaling Technology on actual tankless water heaters operating at 150°F to 185°F in San Angelo, TX (which has some of the hardest municipal water in the United States). These sites in San Angelo were chosen because of their history with heat exchanger failures due to hard water scale deposits.
At the conclusion of the test, all of the test heaters were inspected and were found to be free from scale deposits. The photo to the right shows a heat exchanger tube cut long ways from the 185°F test heater. This was the most scale prone of the test sites since it was at the highest temperature, but at the end of the test absolutely no scale deposits had formed. In the past, this same heater had been inoperable due to scale deposits after a fraction of the test period.
