  1. Installation Troubleshooting

I plugged my unit in and no lights came on.

    1. Confirm the electrical outlet has power.
    2. Call 888-766-7258 for assistance from a residential specialist
  2. EasyWater 1000

My power light came on, but not the descaling light.

When the power light is on but the descaling light is off, this is generally a sign that there is not a good connection from the signal wire to the wrap wire.

    1. Confirm the signal and control panel wires are connected properly.
    2. Using pliers, squeeze the wire connectors firmly to be certain they are closed.
    3. Call 888-766-7258 for assistance from a residential specialist
  3. EasyWater 1100, 2000, 2200 & 3500

My power and overload lights are on, but not the descaling light.

When the power light and overload lights are on but the descaling light is off, this is generally a sign that there is not a good connection from the signal wire to the wrap wire.

    1. Make certain the signal and control panel wires are connected properly.
    2. Using pliers, squeeze the wire connectors firmly to be certain they are closed.
    3. Call 888-766-7258 for assistance from a residential specialist.

All three of the lights are on, power, descaling and overload.

Don’t worry, an overload light does not mean that the unit is going to overheat. The overload light should not be on once the connections have been made and the system is plugged in.

    1. Confirm you single wrapped your pipe if you have PVC or PEX pipe (Do not double wrap PVC or PEX pipe).
    2. Confirm you correctly identified the inside diameter of your pipe and wrapped the correct length of signal wire on your pipe.

  1. What is Hard Water?

Hard water is water with a high concentration of dissolved calcium and magnesium.

  2. Is hard water bad?

No, not for your health. In fact, the calcium and magnesium are beneficial minerals to the body and are good when they stay dissolved in the water.

Hard water is only bad when these minerals come out of solution and stick to the inside of the pipes and water appliances. EasyWater prevents this from happening.

  3. How can I find out my water hardness?

If you are on city water (pay a water bill), you can contact one of our water specialists at 888-766-7258 to get results from our national database. If you have a private well, our residential specialists can approximate your water hardness after asking you a few questions.

  4. What is Scale?

Scale goes by several names including limescale, lime and calcium build up. All of these are referring to the white hard flaky buildup that is usually seen in shower heads and faucet aerators. It is also found inside pipes and water appliances.

Scale is what decreases the water flow in showerheads and faucet aerators and decreases the efficiency and shortens the life span of water heaters and other water appliances.

  5. Will I see spots on my dishes and shower door?

Evaporative spotting occurs anywhere that water is allowed to evaporate.

If you did not have a softener before, you will see less spotting than before on the shower doors and the spots will be easier to wipe away.

If you had a softener before, you will see more spotting if you do not wipe down the shower doors and faucets after use. Water spots left with a salt type water softener are less visible, but harder to remove. For less spots on dishes it is recommended that you use the product included with your EasyWater unit.

  6. Does EasyWater affect the taste or smell?

EasyWater does not remove anything from or add anything to the water, therefore has no affect on taste or smell.

  7. Does EasyWater feel like soft water?

EasyWater conditioned water feels better than hard water, but not the same as salt softened water. EasyWater does not leave a soapy film feel the way a salt type water softener does.

  8. Will the hardness of my water be different after installing EasyWater?

EasyWater does not remove minerals from the water, therefore testing the hardness of the water after installation will show no reduction in the hardness. Remember, hardness is the beneficial calcium and magnesium in the water.

If your pipes have a lot of scale built up in them, the hardness may test higher than before installation as the current build up dissolves back into the water and flows out of the pipes.

  9. What kind of pipes will the EW work on?

EasyWater can be installed on copper, PVC or PEX piping. EasyWater can be used in homes with Galvanized steel pipes, but the small section of pipe to be wrapped with the signal wire will need to be replaced with copper or plastic pipe.

  10. Why isn’t the EasyWater certified by the WQA or NSF?

The Water Quality Association (WQA) tests standards and certifies products that treat drinking water. WQA certification is mainly based on contaminant (mineral) removal. The EasyWater system does not remove any minerals from the water, rather EasyWater changes the physical shape of those minerals and is a descaler, not a softener. The WQA does not have standards for testing descalers.

At present, NSF International does not certify any of the non-salt systems that control hard water or scale deposits without reducing the actual hardness concentration of the water. They only offer certification for scale control for systems that incorporate a chemical feeder for inorganic phosphates or silicates or both to control scale.
